Just wondered if anyone heard yesterday about an incident on the dual carriageway of the A5, just past the last M54 junction.
I was driving along at a respectable 70 mph in the inside lane, heading home from Wrexham, when I was overtaken by a car going slower! 'Surely not!' I hear you cry, 'you canna change the laws of physics!' (It's nice to get a Star Trek reference in now and again).
Well apparently it is possible - if the car in question happens to be driving the wrong way up the fast lane! Fortunate really, as only a few seconds before I'd been doing a less than respectable ahem miles per hour ( it wasn't me officer - honest!) down the same lane. Still not sure what made me slow down, perhaps I'm going psychic in my old age.
I watched in the rear view mirror as a couple of cars swerved out of the way, before I pulled over and called 999. 'What sort of car was it?' asked the operator.
'A blue one,' I gabbled, suddenly ashamed of my observational skills, at the same time wondering 'what does it matter - it'll be a bent one soon if they don't stop it!' In all honesty, I shouldn't beat myself up too much - Kate, in the passenger seat never even noticed anything wrong!
So, just wondering if anyone heard anything about it - I did watch Midlands Today that evening, but nothing.
Oh, and before you complain - I know it's the 'overtaking' and not the 'fast' lane. I write stuff - it was for dramatic effect o.k!?
